Roka Resort

This is one of the most peaceful places you will ever visit. With a warm welcome from staff and resident cats we were delighted with the rustic charm of our room, but all modern conveniences. With just 12 rooms and for half our 4 night stay being the only guests there it was such a tranquil spot. The grounds are well kept and the South China sea is like a lake making it ideal for the free kayaks provided. Breakfast is served freshly made in the restaurant, and we ate there each night and 3 lunches too finding all meals to be freshly made, flavoursome and a wide choice available. Staff were friendly and welcoming and looked after us without being intrusive. With the beautiful, friendly cats from the rescue all around the resort and my cat treats in hand, we made many feline friends. My wife and I stayed here for two nights on a long weekend, and we really enjoyed it here.

The highlights: the staff are very very helpful and kind, helping arrange a taxi ride from the ferry terminal, prepping the rooms and carrying the luggage, providing new water and bug lotion every day, and helping out very quickly whenever we needed something. They were great and the restaurant staff are also nice and friendly and welcoming. The cats as well are so cute, as they have their own roles (some will be at the restaurant, others welcoming you at the office, others roaming their garden by your room. The location is also quiet and peaceful, away from the resort area, and the food is tasty and reasonable price. The resort is also just minutes away from the Pengudang mangrove, which is a great place to visit and learn with great community tour guides.

The rooms were pretty good, the bedroom was spacious and clean and the bed was very comfortably and clean too. The bathroom was large but could use a good deep clean scrubbing (not really dirty but needs a good clean to shine like the rest of the room). It would also be nice if they provided a good umbrella.

If you’re looking for a peaceful place on your Bintan visit to recharge, consider staying here instead of the main resort area. - 02 Sep 2026 

Peaceful retreat with authentic charm

Roka Resort in Bintan is a truly wonderful place. Tucked away from everything, its location can be seen as both a plus and a minus — for us, it was absolutely a plus. The atmosphere is calm, the weather was consistently sunny despite forecasts, and the resort itself is beautifully maintained. Our room was spacious, spotless, and featured the largest bathroom I’ve ever seen in a resort.

The independent restaurant serves delicious meals worth recommending. Starting the day with a proper Nasi Goreng was a highlight, and every dish felt thoughtfully prepared.

One unexpected bonus: the cats living around the resort. I grew especially fond of one of the red tabby females who sought me out daily, curling up in my lap with complete trust.

The staff are friendly and attentive, always ready to help. Dewi, in particular, makes everything possible — from arranging massages to providing extra sambal (wonderfully spicy!) and ensuring your room preferences are met.

This resort is a must for travelers seeking peace and quiet. It’s also adults-only, with guests under 12 not permitted, making it ideal for those wanting a few days of uninterrupted relaxation. - 30 Aug 2026

I have been to Bintan many times but I wish I had found Roka earlier. Great service in the hotel and the restaurant. Quantity and quality of food was excellent. The quality of furnishings in the room is very high. The service outstanding. I will for sure return here for my next trip to Bintan. The quality / price ratio is incredible. Had the most relaxing vacation by the sea. No screaming kids, no noisy families. Just absolute peace for 5D4N. Location is quite remote, so you have to book a taxi service to go anywhere, but the driver who picked us up from the ferry terminal kindly offered to bring us to shop for drinks and snacks in town first.

The Superior room was immaculately clean, more so than I would ever have expected of a beachfront unit surrounded by gardens. Beware of sandflies on the beach and mosquitoes in general, but if you use the insect repellent they provide in the rooms, you'll be fine. We got a few mosquito bites, but nothing major. Aircon and water pressure were fine, and the only minor gripes were we could've done with more hooks in the bathroom and a full-length mirror (I'm short and the bathroom mirrors are too high). Definitely no deal breakers.

Dining at Sambuya Restaurant was lovely. As the only guests at the time, we were amazed at how the kitchen could serve up such a wide range of dishes. There was nothing we didn't enjoy. Highlights included the omelette, banana pancakes and gado-gado salad. Breakfast portions were on the smaller side, but otherwise very decent for the prices. For variety and even more savings, take a 5-min walk down the road to Warung Mak Anje and enjoy simple local dishes by the river.

Back at Roka Resort, the staff, especially Dewi at the front desk and Ana(?) at the restaurant, were so kind and helpful. We could Whatsapp Dewi anytime with questions/requests, and she even kindly allowed us a 3.30pm checkout time as we had booked the last ferry. WiFi was solid throughout, even at the beach or down the road!

BUT most of all, be prepared to fall in love with the cats, some who cuddle with you in the room, others that entertain you while you dine, and plenty more around the resort that bestow loud meows and head rubs. We miss them all so much and are already making plans to go back! (P.S. If you don't like cats, Roka Resort is not for you.) - 01 Mar 2026

14 napot töltöttünk itt. Nagyon jól éreztük magunkat. A hely természeti adottsága nagyon különleges. Csodaszép hely. Aki kedveli a macskákat annak kifejezetten ajánljuk. Az ételek nagyon finomak, nekünk kifejezetten ízlett. A kiszolgálás is fantasztikus volt. Nagyon köszönjük Ana, Hasti és a többi szép arcú és szép mosolyú indonéz lánynak. Különös köszönet Dewinek, aki megmentett, 😁🙏🏻❤️ a sok homoklégy csípéseinek kellemetlen következményeitől. Köszönjük Sofi, fantasztikus amit csinálsz! Sok elégedett vendéget és minden jót kívánunk.
